The Punta Aderci Nature Reserve was the first reserve on the Abruzzo coast and protects the coast falling within the territory of the municipality of Vasto (CH).
The central point of the Reserve is the promontory of Punta Aderci, from the top the view extends 360 ° from the Maiella to the Gran Sasso and the Costa dei Trabocchi, from the pebble beach of Mottagrossa to the Libertini beach; at sunset, on particularly favorable days, you can see the shape of the Conero.
Punta Aderci or Punta d’Erce is the most valuable stretch of coast in Abruzzo: 5 km of spectacular cliffs, rocks, sandy or pebbly beaches, dunes and a sea with green and blue hues. Interesting is the dune system among the most preserved in Abruzzo where the sequence of plant species goes from the pioneering plants of the moving dunes to those of the fixed dunes, then the shrubs and the Mediterranean scrub. In the depressions in the dunes, water often stagnates to form wetlands with reeds, here it is possible to observe and photograph many species of birds that winter there; emblem is the little brother who is the symbol of the reserve.
Numerous opportunities to photograph: from the bright colors of the blooms to the birds and then rocks, waves and the sumptuous sunsets and sunrises, in fact this is one of the few places in Abruzzo where the sun rises and sets on the sea.
